Services & Infrastructure
Telecommunications
An extensive fibre optic cable network and advanced switching technology means that businesses and residents enjoy similar communication facilities as their city counterparts. Broadband Internet access is widely available, as is major mobile phone network coverage.
Gas and Electricity
Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is readily available from a number of major suppliers who have large-scale, on-site storage facilities. LPG is suitable for domestic, commercial, industrial, agricultural and automotive uses and can be supplied locally at prices that are just as competitive as interstate.
The distribution of electricity in Coffs Harbour is under the control of Country Energy. Supply is generally at 415 volts three phase, and 240 volts single phase at 50 cycles.
Water
Whilst the Coffs Harbour area is well known for its water efficiency, the rapidly growing population will continue to place growing demand on the water supply. Forward planning has ensured that Coffs Harbour has the facilities to deliver quality water to meet all reasonable industrial and residential demands for many years. A $122m Regional Water Supply Project will ensure demand for water in the region will be met until at least 2021. For more information please contact the Coffs Harbour City Council's Water Department on (02) 6648 4000.
Sewerage
Coffs Harbour is a city committed to maintaining high quality sewerage services for its residents. The Sewerage Strategy involves capital works estimated to cost about $170m up to 2021. The City has four large and efficient sewerage plants that service Coffs Harbour and the rapidly expanding northern beaches.
The Sewerage Strategy included the upgrading of the City's water treatment facilities to water reclamation plants and the reclaimed water pipeline facilitates the transport of reclaimed water to agricultural and recreational reclaimed water users throughout the Coffs Harbour local government area.
