Coffs Coast is the regional tourism destination taking in Coffs Harbour, Nambucca and Bellingen on the Mid North Coast of NSW, approximately halfway between Sydney and Brisbane.
Coffs Harbour is the major centre on the Mid North Coast with a regional catchment population of over 200,000 people (70,000 within the Coffs Harbour LGA).

Coffs Coast’s towns are surrounded by:

- 84,000ha of World Heritage area
- the 71,000ha Solitary Islands Marine Park
The scenic Waterwall Way winds its way up to a height of 1584m on the Great Dividing Range, with the rainforests in Dorrigo National Park at 700m above sea level only an hour’s drive from the coast.
Our Climate
Coffs Harbour's climate is one of the best and most pleasant in Australia. Our summer days are cooled by the sea breeze and we can enjoy the beauty of our beaches from dusk til dawn with summer temperatures between 19 degrees at night and 27 degrees during the day.
In winter, magnificent blue clear skies and light crisp winds are abundant with temperatures raining from an overnight 7 up to 19 degrees during the day.
Our Economy
The Gross Regional Product (GRP) for Coffs Harbour was estimated at $2.3 billion in 2007/08.
The top four industry sectors of our economy are:
- Property and Business services industry with 11.4% of GRP
- Retail Trade at 8.4%
- Health and Community Services contributing 8.1%
- Manufacturing at 7.8%
Over 12% of our population is employed in the Health and Community Services sector.
Our Future
Future projections by the NSW Department of Planning estimate that the region will continue to grow sustainably, with an extra 94,000 people expected to call the Mid North Coast home by 2031. The Coffs Harbour population alone is set to reach 100,000 by 2030.
Coffs Harbour City Council and the community are currently undertaking an exciting project to plan for the sustainable future of Coffs Harbour. The 2030 Plan will identify what steps we need to take over the next 20+ years to move us towards achieving the vision. The Plan will identify not only strategic actions for Council but will also act as a guiding document for the wider community and other agencies operating within the Coffs Harbour local government area.
